The program includes the Geographe Catchment from Capel to Meelup and support for the Cape to Cape Catchment from Yallingup to Augusta.
The program objectives include:
• Increasing community awareness of water quality issues.
• providing school and community educational opportunities.
• initiating, encouraging and supporting collaborative local action projects involving the community, local government authorities, and state government agencies to identify and resolve water related catchment issues.
Ongoing Priority Activities:
• Provide professional development opportunities.
• Preparing notes and reports for media coverage.
• Provide advice and technical support for monitoring and education programs.
• Creating displays for Capelfest, Balingup Small Farm Field Day, Busselton Show.
• Support river restoration for landcare professionals and the community.
• Ribbons of Blue Newsletter.
• Curriculum support material for teachers in the region –information and activities for the Lower Blackwood, Cape to Cape and Geographe.
• Provide in-class and field support to registered groups with a commitment to long-term education & monitoring.
Ribbons of Blue assists in the development and implementation of the River Action Plans, river restoration training and the Lower Vasse River Clean-up Program. This year Ribbons of Blue Coordinator will present a paper at the National Conference of Aust. Ass. for Environmental Educators and at the International Landcare Conference on River Action Plan Development and Implementation.
