Born and raised in the Busselton area David has a keen knowledge of local environmental issues. He has been involved in dairy farming most of his life only recently changing to beef. He is an active member of the community having been a member of the Vasse Wonnerup LCDC since its inception in 1989 and taking on the role of Chair of the organisation since 1993. David is also a member and current Chair of the WA Farmers Federation and a member of the Geographe Landcare Nursery. In previous years he has devoted time to other landcare working groups including the Western Australian Agriculture Department's Greener Pastures Committee; the South West Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) Committee; the committee for drawing up dairy effluent guidelines; the Dairy Program Advisory Committee (DPAC); and the Shire of Busselton's Rural Advisory Committee. David has undertaken a number of Natural Resource study tours, 1994 to NSW, VIC, TAS and Hobart National Landcare Conference, and in 2007 he travelled with BestFarms to Hobart National EMS Conference.
